All Innotek ® dog fence systems come with 500 feet of 20 GAUGE wire (this is the thinner solid core wire) and the HD systems come with 18 GAGE wire  ( this is the thicker solid core more durable wire).   It is not recommended to join 20 gauge and 18  gauge wire together as it affects the performance of the system. For areas larger than 1/2 an acre, you will need to order enough wire flags and splices ( the boundary kits)  to cover your  whole boundary  length. (check this chart with number of ACRES and LINEAR FEET OF WIRE Needed  For Fence
1 acre=850ft,  2 acres=1200ft, 3 acres=1500ft, 4 acres=1700ft, 5 acres=1900 ft)

If you already have a fence,  particularly a chain link, it is not advisable to weave the wire on the fence or attach it to the fence, as it will affect the radio signal . It is best to put the wire at least a foot in front of the fence. This is also better, when you are training your dog , to show him that crossing the wire will give him a correction, he can cross it without the stationary wood or chain link fence being in the way and he will be able to see that he gets a correction there. This is particlarly good for dogs that jump over or dig under the fence.

Also if your neighbour has an underground electric dog fence, it is best to put your wires at least 6 feet apart, so they do not interfere with each others signals.

 This fence wire will also work going through water and  under large piles of snow.

I have only had the system for two weeks but I am sure that it has kept my one year old German Shepard out of trouble. He has learned to retreat from the beep in these two weeks, even when his biggest distraction(a dog that freely roams the streets) comes and goes. I am impressed and have mentioned this product to relatives and neighbors. I am sure it has saved me a lot of pacing and worrying. Thank you- *****5 Star Rating

This is an excellent containment system; especially for the price. My dog, who is a 90 lb. chocolate labrador, was getting through, under and over the fence. This basic system kept him from getting too close to the fence and now he has learned his boundary with ease. Thanks Innoteck, for the innovative products. I guarantee, you won't be disapponted!

This is a great system. I have a Border Collie that wanted to run everywhere! He got hit by a car, ran off, wouldn't come when you called him....even for treats. Since we installed this system a year ago he listens and stays in the yard and is overall a better dog. He doesn't even run out the door of others' houses when we visit, which he used to do every time!
I have added two other dogs to the system and expanded the line twice adding more of the yard and it has worked perfectly.
