DuoTemp Heated and Cooled Pet Beds
How does the DuoTemp work.
The DuoTemp Pet Bed uses a patent pending thermoelectric device to provide gentle heating or cooling with the flick of a switch and can be turned off just as easy. When first setting up the bed, it takes 20 to 30 minutes for the bed to reach its optimal temperature.
Won't the fan disturb my pet.
No. The fan is audible but makes no more noise than the fan in your computer, and all the air is circulated internally so your pet will not feel the moving air.
What happens if the pet tries to chew on the fan.
The small fan , three inches in diameter, is located internally behind an external intake protected by a durable guard for safety. It would be very difficult for your pet to reach without the use of tools.
How cold does the bed get.
The temperature of the air circulating inside the bed is regulated so the surface remains roughly five to seven degrees below the ambient temperature.
Will it work for bigger dogs like my Golden Retriever.
Currently, the DuoTemp is available for dogs up to 40 pounds. A larger bed will be launching this fall for bigger breeds.
Which dogs are at highest risk of overheating
All dogs are at risk of overheating. Larger breeds, such as Great Danes and St. Bernards and breeds with heavy coats reach dangerous internal temperatures much faster than smaller breeds. More prone to heat strokes are short face breeds, such as Boxers, Pekingese, Pugs, and Persian cats, as well as young and old animals, which cannot acclimatize effectively. Dark color coats attract more sunlight than light color coats. Being overweight can also contribute to the problem.
Why can't I just lay out a soft blanket and turn on the air conditioning.
Dogs tend to stretch out on the cool tile floor or the cement floor in the garage looking for a cool surface. This puts stress on bones and muscles, can cause calluses and hair loss. Moreover, laying on hard surfaces for extended periods may cause unsightly bald spots or even painful lesions on the elbows. Cool air treatment helps lower a pet's body temperature after exercise or exposure to warm weather, and the therapeutic gentle heated air relieves sore joints, stimulates circulation and reduces separation anxiety. Cool air circulates through the DuoTemp's unique, patent-pending air channel cushion to provide pets with the comfort of a cool therapeutic surface to sleep and relax.
Can I use it to keep my pet cool inside a car.
No. The Heated or Cooled Pet Bed is not designed for use inside a vehicle. Never leave a pet unattended inside any vehicle.
Why would my pet need a bed that provides cool and heated air therapy.
The DuoTemp bed is designed to provide therapeutic comfort to your dog all year round. Summer heat can be extremely dangerous for pets, causing heat stroke and stress which can be fatal. The cool setting on the Duotemp bed helps maintain the optimal pet temperature on warm days.
