Just a few Good Tips for you.

All PetSafe ® dog fence systems come with 500 feet of 20 GAUGE wire (this is the thinner wire).   It is not recommended to join 20 gauge and 18  gauge wire together, as it affects the performance of the system. If you want to upgrade to a thicker wire 18 gauge( a more durable wire) you will need to order enough for the 18 gauge  to cover your  whole boundary  length. If you already have a fence,  particularly a chain link, it is not advisable to weave the wire on the fence or attach it to the fence, as it will affect the radio signal . It is best to put the wire at least a foot in front of the fence. This is also better, when you are training your dog , to show him that crossing the wire will give him a correction, he can cross it without the stationary wood fence or chain link fence, being in the way and he will be able to see that he gets a correction there. This is particlarly good for dogs that jump over or dig under the fence.

Also if your neighbour has an underground electric dog fence, it is best to put your wires at least 6 feet apart, so they do not interfere with each others signals

 These fence wires can work going through water and under deep piles of snow .

PETSAFE ® CONTAINMENT SYSTEMS

Since a containment system is not a physical barrier, the training that you provide, as outlined in the system's manual, is extremely important - be sure to follow all training instructions.
